This will be a 7 session camp covering freestyle wrestling space limited to 40.

Kendall Cross is an American Olympic gold medalist in wrestling. He won the gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, where he wrestled in the 57 kilogram (125.5 pounds) weight class. He defeated Guivi Sissaouri of Canada 5-3 in the final match. Cross also competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics where he placed sixth.

In high school, he wrestled for Mustang High School in Oklahoma where he won a state title. He wrestled for Oklahoma State University where he was a three time All-American and won the NCAA Championship in 1989.  Kendall graduated from OSU with a major in political science and economics.

After college he served as an assistant coach at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC while training for the Olympics. He also served as a coach for the Sunkist Kids and the Dave Schultz Wrestling Clubs. Kendall went on to become an assistant coach at Harvard University and worked at Merrill Lynch in Boston. While in Boston, he founded the Kendall Cross Gold Medal Wrestling Club, which developed young athletes, and gave the region access to his world class abilities.

AJ Grant Camp Staff

Former University of Michigan All-America A.J. Grant is in his sixth season as an assistant wrestling coach at the University of North Carolina. He is in his fifth year as a full-time assistant and works with the lightweights on technique and training.
 
Grant has worked with Atlantic Coast Conference champions Drew Forshey, Jared Royer and Evan Sola, who brought home conference titles at 125 and 133 pounds over the last five seasons. Sola also finished sixth at the 2005 NCAA Championships.
 
Last season, Mike Rappo was the ACC runner-up and an NCAA qualifier at 133 pounds.
 
A standout 125-pounder at Michigan and letterman from 1999-2003, Grant earned All-America honors in 2001 and `03 with a pair of fourth-place finishes at the NCAA Championships. As a senior, Grant was the 125-pound runner-up at the Big Ten Championships and posted a 34-9 overall record. He was ranked fourth in the final polls by both InterMat and Amateur Wrestling News. Grant went 116-58 during his collegiate career and is ranked 14th on the Wolverines' career victories list. Grant also earned a fifth-place finish at the 2002 University nationals. He graduated from Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management.
 
The 29-year-old Grant is a native of Clarkston, Mich., and a 1999 graduate of Clarkston High School. He earned prep All-America honors and won Michigan state titles in 1998 and `99. Grant went 196-9 during his high school career and lost just one match in his final three seasons.
 
Additionally, Grant captured a Greco-Roman national championship in 1996 and was a three-time Greco-Roman All-America (1996, 1997, 1999). He was also a freestyle All-America from 1996-99 and earned NHSCAAAll-America honors with a fourth-place finish.
 
Grant came to Chapel Hill from Northville High School in Northville, Mich., where he served as head wrestling coach for one season.

Jack Jensen Jack Jensen, who earned All-America honors as a 184-pounder at Oklahoma State in 2008, is in his second year as an assistant wrestling coach at the University of North Carolina. Jensen works with the Tar Heels' upper weight groups.
 
In his first year at Carolina, he guided 197-pounder Dennis Drury and heavyweight Justin Dobies to spots at the NCAA Championships in 2009.
 
Jensen came to UNC from Ashland University in Ohio, where he joined the staff as an assistant coach in July 2008. Prior to his stint with the Eagles, Jensen was a standout at Oklahoma State. He was a member of three national championship teams (2004-06) and was an NCAA qualifier in 2007 and 2008.
 
Jensen captured All-America honors with a seventh-place finish in 2008 and also earned University Freestyle Nationals All-America status in 2005.
 
While in Stillwater, Jensen gained coaching experience on the staff for the Oklahoma State Wrestling Camps from 2004-07. He also worked as an instructor for Ringers Select in his native Sheboygan, Wis., from 2004-07.
 
He graduated from Oklahoma State in July 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in history.
 
Prior to college, Jensen attended Sheboygan North High School and was a two-time All-America and a three-time state place-winner.

Camp 1 Offensive Takedowns, April 9-11

The neutral position is the most important part of wrestling and if you desire to win championships you need spend time continually correcting, improving, and adding techniques in this area.
 
We will focus on how to move your opponent out of position, keep your position, and hit your fundamental attacks from all angles.  We will give you basic attacks and move into advanced scrambles teaching you where to go and how to score.
 
All campers leave with a much better grasp on set-ups and to create openings in the neutral position!

Camp 2 Counter Offense Takedowns, April 23-25

The neutral position is the most important part of wrestling and if you desire to win championships you need spend time continually correcting, improving, and adding techniques in this area.
 
Camp 2 builds from camp 1 giving you the defense needed in the neutral position.  We will work countering the basic shots with down blocking, re-shots, and get into more advanced counters such as the funk.
 
All campers leave with a much better grasp on set-ups and to create openings in the neutral position!
